Position Summary
Argus Properties is hiring an Architectural Technologist to support our growing team in Kelowna, BC. Working under the direction of the Director of construction, you will play a critical role in bridging design, development, and construction. This position supports project feasibility, design development, permitting, and construction documentation by translating architectural intent into precise, coordinated, and buildable technical drawings.
Working within a vertically integrated builder–developer model, the Architectural Technologist collaborates closely with Development, Construction, Project Management, and external consultants to ensure that projects are technically robust, code-compliant, cost-efficient, and constructible.
This is not a purely drafting role—it is a delivery-focused technical position embedded within a real estate development and construction environment

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Development & Feasibility support
- Prepare schematic and preliminary design drawings to support development applications, development permits, rezoning packages, and site plan iterations.
- Assist in evaluating alternative layouts for efficiency, constructability, cost optimization, and marketability.
- Technical Design & Construction documentation
- Produce high-quality architectural drawings using Revit and/or AutoCAD including floor plans, elevations, sections, wall details, and schedules.
- Convert design concepts into fully coordinated construction drawings suitable for tender, permit, and construction.
- Building code & Compliance Coordination
- Apple relevant provisions of the BC Building Code and municipal bylaws in documentation.
- Support code analysis related to fire separation, occupancy, egress, accessibility, and energy compliance.
- Assist in preparing permit submissions and responding to municipal comments.
- Consultant Coordination
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, geotechnical, and building envelope consultants.
- Identify and resolve drawing conflicts using class detection and RFI processes.
- Constructability & Value Optimization
- Review designs through a builder’s lens focusing on buildability, sequencing, cost efficiency, and standardization.
- Support value engineering and development of repeatable details for future Argus projects.
- Construction Support Phase
- Assist Construction and Project Management teams with shop drawing reviews, as-builts, field clarifications, and RFI’s.
- Participate in select site visits as required.
- Digital Model & Document Management
- Maintain organized BIM models and drawing sets.
- Manage revisions, addenda, and drawing issuance records within Argus systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology or an equivalent field.
- Experience with Revit
- Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the BC Building Code.
- Strong technical drafting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP Drawings.
- 3-7 years of experience in a development-led or design-build environment
- Experience with wood-frame multifamily or mixed-use projects.
- Familiarity with BC municipal permitting processes.
